Red Lantern Strategy, a custom marketing research and strategy firm, is looking for an experienced consumer insights professional to join our tight-knit team of researchers. You will serve as a generalist researcher working with project teams across all aspects of custom research execution, from strategic study design to crafting stories with actionable insights for clients.
All candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Qualitative primary market research experience (i.e., managing and/or moderating custom research projects utilizing focus groups, ethnography, in-depth interviews, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years (ideally 3-5+ years) in roles where conducting primary market research is a main function of your job
- Experience developing qualitative research instruments (respondent screeners, qualitative discussion guides, etc.), analyzing data, and writing reports/presentations
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and presentation design experience (e.g., building charts and visuals in PPT)
- Proficiency in MS Excel; advanced knowledge preferred/a plus
- A./B.S. or graduate-level degree
- US Citizen/eligible to work in the US
- Live in the Northeast US with the ability to occasionally commute to NYC for team and client meetings
- Think big picture/strategically and be detail oriented – can track complex client needs, project objectives, and to-dos across multiple projects simultaneously
- Have a passion for data and for problem solving – enjoys the process of starting with data, identifying themes, and boiling up to a clear story that addresses client needs
- Have expertise in working with qualitative and quantitative data
- Can identify qualitative themes and insights
- Can identify trends in quantitative data and manipulate data in excel to assist in the identification of trends and “is good with numbers”
- Enjoy working in teams via a collaborative process
- Be a polished communicator – comfortable speaking up in groups, good at expressing self verbally and in writing
- Have passion/Interest in learning about business (via learning about business through diverse client needs across industries)
- Experience using (including programming) online discussion board platforms (e.g., QualBoard, Recollective, Remesh, etc.)
- Moderating (online or in-person) experience
- Visual design skills
- Video editing and production skills
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Serving as a key client contact on projects coordinating project management, gathering feedback on materials, and providing strategic guidance with consultation from RLS senior project leaders
- Proposal development and research design
- Project management – ensuring that research tasks are completed according to client timelines/meet deadlines
- Communicating/coordinating with vendors to ensure successful project delivery
- Research instrument development
- Screeners, In-Depth Interview guides, focus group discussion guides, digital board discussion guides, and surveys
- Qualitative fieldwork
- Digital qualitative programming/testing to ensure a smooth participant experience
- Moderating online discussion boards and potentially in-depth interviews
- Analysis and report writing
- Being a key thinker/contributor to the development of insights
- Being a primary author and support on research reports
- Presenting research findings to clients
