Research Analyst / Senior Research Analyst

Red Lantern is looking for a bright and curious mid-level insights professional to join our tight-knit team of researchers headquartered in Dumbo, Brooklyn. You will serve as a generalist researcher supporting senior members of the team. Your role will be to support all aspects of the research (primarily qualitative with occasional quantitative), from the design through fielding, analysis and reporting. This includes contributing to:

Qualitative fieldwork & analysis

  • You’ll primarily be working with online discussion boards, in-depth interviews and focus groups

  • Studies will include both ad hoc studies & recurring panels

  • Occasional quantitative work may also be required

Research instrument development

  • Writing screeners, discussion guides, and/or surveys

Strategic project management

To ensure a quality experience at every step, while maximizing efficiency and profitability e.g.,

  • Managing schedules & timelines

  • Managing consumer recruitment, vendors, & clients

  • Detailed note-taking & record keeping

Writing engaging debrief reports & research proposals

Online digital board programing & moderating

Support with other tasks

As a small, collaborative company, we all are required to “pitch in” to support on tasks outside of client work (e.g., administrative tasks, operational tasks, other challenges as they arise)

What We’re Looking For

You’re equally passionate about unearthing insights about human nature as you are about strategic business implications. You are interested in learning about how research is applied and willing to put forward your ideas for how it can be improved.


You have a true balance of skills when it comes to analysis, organizing and problem-solving.  You thrive on juggling multiple moving pieces while also relishing the opportunity to thoroughly comb through and distill troves of data. You’re not scared of a moving clock and are able to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in a market research, consumer insights, or strategic planning role

  • B.A. or graduate level degree

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills

  • High level of experience working in PowerPoint and Word

  • *Experience with basic visual formatting in PowerPoint is a must (visual objects, tables, charts) – more advanced presentation design experience is a plus

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States


  • Experience with Excel

  • Experience using online discussion board platforms (including programming)

  • Moderating (online or in-person) experience

  • Video editing and production skills


  • Empathy and thoughtfulness

  • Adaptability (i.e., ability to create your own structure)

  • Self-discipline (i.e., ability to manage your own time)
